Data Scientist
TechnologyYou extract insights from data using statistics, machine learning, and programming — which sounds glamorous until you realize 80% of the job is cleaning messy data, 15% is explaining your findings to people who wanted a different answer, and 5% is the actual cool modeling stuff. You'll write Python, build predictive models, and create visualizations that executives will squint at before asking 'but what does it mean?'

What you'll actually do
- 01Clean and wrangle datasets that arrive in formats ranging from 'mostly okay' to 'crime against data'
- 02Build machine learning models and then explain to stakeholders why the model can't predict the future perfectly
- 03Create data visualizations that tell a story even when the data is whispering conflicting stories
- 04Present findings to executives and translate 'the p-value is 0.03' into 'yes, this actually means something'
- 05Collaborate with engineers to deploy models into production where they immediately perform worse than in your notebook
- 06Stay current on an ML landscape that changes faster than you can read the papers
