Occupational Therapy Assistant

You carry out the treatment plans designed by occupational therapists — guiding patients through exercises, activities, and adaptive techniques that help them regain independence. It's hands-on clinical work with a two-year degree, and you'll see the same transformative moments OTs see: the stroke patient who buttons their own shirt for the first time in months.

What you'll actually do

• 01Guide patients through therapeutic activities designed to restore daily living skills
• 02Teach adaptive techniques for dressing, eating, bathing, and grooming
• 03Fabricate and adjust splints and adaptive devices
• 04Document patient progress and report back to the supervising OT
• 05Set up sensory activities for pediatric patients — yes, adults think your job looks fun
• 06Lead group therapy sessions in skilled nursing and rehab facilities
• 07Help patients find creative workarounds for tasks their bodies can't do the old way
