Stage Manager

You run the show — literally. You coordinate every element of a theatrical production from rehearsals through performances, calling lighting and sound cues, managing actors, and being the single point of calm when everything goes wrong. The director gets the credit, the actors get the applause, and you get the satisfaction of knowing the entire thing would collapse without you. Which it would.

What you'll actually do

• 01Call lighting, sound, and fly cues with split-second timing during live performances where there's no 'take two'
• 02Run rehearsals, track blocking changes, and distribute daily reports that nobody reads until they need information from them
• 03Manage the egos, schedules, and emotional states of actors who consider every performance a personal crisis
• 04Coordinate between design departments — lighting, sound, costumes, props — who each think their department is most important
• 05Solve problems backstage in real-time during performances without the audience ever knowing something went wrong
• 06Maintain the prompt book — the master document of the entire show — with the precision of an air traffic controller
