Marriage Counselor

You'll mediate conflicts, teach communication skills, and occasionally be the first person to say out loud what everyone is already thinking. Some couples come in to save a marriage. Others come in for permission to end one.

What you'll actually do
- 01Sit between two people who are furious at each other and somehow make them both feel heard
- 02Teach communication techniques to couples who've spent years perfecting the art of not communicating
- 03Navigate sessions where one partner is committed to therapy and the other was dragged in against their will
- 04Maintain neutrality when one partner is clearly being unreasonable and the other is looking at you for validation
- 05Write treatment notes that capture the emotional complexity of a session without violating confidentiality
- 06Manage your own emotional boundaries because absorbing other people's relationship trauma 8 hours a day takes a toll
