Online Teacher

Education

You teach classes entirely through a screen, which means you've mastered the art of engaging students who might be in pajamas, muted, and watching TikTok in another tab. You'll design asynchronous content, lead live sessions with cameras off, and figure out whether a student is confused or just has bad WiFi. The flexibility is real, but so is the loneliness of talking to a grid of black squares.

What you'll actually do

  • 01Deliver live lessons to students whose cameras are off, microphones are muted, and engagement is theoretical
  • 02Design asynchronous content that's compelling enough to compete with literally everything else on the internet
  • 03Grade assignments submitted at 11:59 PM by students who definitely started them at 11:30 PM
  • 04Monitor discussion boards where some students write essays and others write 'I agree' and think that counts
  • 05Troubleshoot technology issues that range from 'my mic doesn't work' to 'what's a learning management system?'
  • 06Hold virtual office hours where you sit alone for an hour and then three students all show up in the last 5 minutes
