School Psychologist

You evaluate students for learning disabilities, counsel kids in crisis, consult with teachers on behavior plans, and serve on teams that decide whether a student qualifies for special education services. You're part clinician, part educator, part crisis responder, and your caseload covers hundreds of students across multiple schools. Everyone needs you, nobody has enough of you, and the emotional labor is immense.

What you'll actually do

• 01Administer psychological and educational assessments to determine whether students have disabilities that affect learning
• 02Write comprehensive evaluation reports that translate test scores into actionable classroom recommendations
• 03Counsel students dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and crises that would overwhelm most adults
• 04Consult with teachers on behavior intervention plans for students who are disrupting classrooms and need support, not punishment
• 05Serve on multidisciplinary teams deciding special education eligibility — every decision changes a student's trajectory
• 06Cover 2-4 schools because the district can't afford to put you in just one, so you drive a lot and eat lunch in your car
